Police Bust Up Drug Trafficking Ring in Reading
Fifteen people were recently arrested for their role in operating an alleged drug trafficking organization that police say was responsible for selling $20 million worth of drugs throughout Berks County over the last year.
District Attorney John Adams announced the results of “Operation Shattered,” which involved partnerships with local and state police in addition to the DA’s office. All the suspects face serious charges, including some accused of attempted first-degree murder.
The investigation into the trafficking organization began in September, when detectives discovered the organization’s operations in the Reading area. The initial target of the investigation was Jesus Feliciano-Trinidad, but soon 19 other individuals were also identified as being actively involved with the drug organization. Feliciano-Trinidad allegedly conspired with other members of the organization to murder five people on various occasions, including rivals in the drug trade.
Serious consequences for drug convictions
Even without the murder charges, the numerous counts of drug crimes the people involved in the ring face are more than enough to send them to prison for many years.
